Privacy Policy

Effective November 3, 2026. This policy describes what we collect on theglobalrecovery.org and why.

Who we are

Global Recovery Inc (“we”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located at 50 Market St, Ste 1A #289, South Portland, ME 04106. You can reach us at admin@theglobalrecovery.org or +1 (561) 758-5191.

Information you give us

  • Contact form: name, email address and your message.
  • Get Support form: name, email, optional phone number, your relationship to the Veteran, your state, your message and your consent to be contacted.
  • Volunteer form: name, email, phone, state, how you would like to help and your availability.
  • “Email me my healing path”: name, email and the link to your wizard results, only if you choose to send it.
  • Request a Listing form (clinicians): name, credentials, license state and number, NPI number, path and discipline, a link to the public roster where you are listed, practice name, city, email, optional phone and website, a short description of your work, and your attestations and consent. If we accept the request, the practice details you provide are published on the state directory pages.
  • Donations: your name, email and donation amount. Card and bank details are entered directly with our payment processor, Stripe, and never reach our servers.

Form submissions are emailed to our team and kept only as long as needed to respond and keep records required by law. Please do not include medical records or other sensitive health details in a form; we will ask for anything we need by phone or email.

The healing-path wizard

The wizard on the Ways to Healing page asks who you are seeking support for, your state, your preferred format and cost, and four short wellbeing statements. Your answers are used only to filter the public resource directory. They live in your browser and in the address of the results page so you can bookmark or share it. We do not store wizard answers unless you choose to email yourself the results.

The specialist directory

The state pages under Ways to Healing list licensed clinicians by name, with the practice contact details, credential, license and NPI number that appear in public professional rosters and in the federal NPI Registry. This is professional, not personal, information and it is published to help families find care. If you are listed and want your entry corrected or removed, email admin@theglobalrecovery.org and we will act within ten business days.

Analytics, Google Ads and cookies

We use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tags. Google Ads tags help us measure whether the free advertising we receive through the Google Ad Grants program leads to support requests, volunteer sign-ups, contact messages and donations. These tools set cookies and collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device type and the completion of a form or donation. They do not receive the content of your messages.

When you first visit, a notice lets you accept or decline these cookies. If you decline, we record that choice in your browser and set Google’s consent signals to “denied,” which prevents advertising and analytics cookies from being stored. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for theglobalrecovery.org, which will show the notice again. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

We also use a small amount of browser storage to remember your cookie choice and to avoid counting the same form submission or donation twice. Embedded YouTube videos are served in privacy-enhanced mode and load only when you press play.

Payment processing

Donations are processed by Stripe, Inc. Stripe collects your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email, the amount and a transaction reference so that we can send a receipt and keep the records a charity is required to keep.

How we share information

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site and respond to you (email delivery, payment processing, website hosting, Google’s analytics and advertising tools as described above), and when the law requires it.

Children

Our programs serve families, including children, but our website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this site. If you believe a child has submitted a form, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and requests

You may ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you, at any time. Email admin@theglobalrecovery.org with the subject line “Privacy request.” We will respond within 30 days.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date above.
